Legendz Steakhouse
Paul pays a visit to Legendz, the premium steakhouse restaurant at the recently renovated and revamped InterContinental Regency Bahrain
The place and ambience
‘Modern, elegant and comfortable’
The mood at Legendz is one of modernity, elegance and comfort. The décor is fresh and contemporary. A beige and cream color scheme together with relaxing and cozy seating creates a sense of calm which immediately puts diners at ease. The restaurant has a spacious and airy feel accentuated by the open kitchen showcasing the chefs diligently preparing their culinary delights. The service is friendly, warm and attentive. As soon as I entered the restaurant I was quickly taken to my table and provided with the menu. The waiting staff are knowledgeable about the menu and were only too happy to make suggestions. Very welcoming and very professional.
The food
‘Top quality steakhouse dining’
I decided to order the Legendz five course set menu and was very impressed with the quality of ingredients, the taste, the presentation and above all the dining experience as a whole.
For the first course on the set menu there is a choice of starters, a gourmet salad consisting of fresh Gulf prawns, smoked river salmon, goose liver pate with a honey-mustard dressing with baby leaves or goose liver pate served with sweet onion and balsamic marmalade, mesclun lettuce and walnut dressing. Both starters were excellent and clearly showed that the chefs are of the highest caliber. My stand out recollection was the succulent Gulf prawns and the pleasant contrast of the sweet balsamic marmalade to the goose liver pate. A super start to the evening.
The next course of roasted potato soup with leeks and croutons was very well prepared and bursting with flavor. The consistency of the soup was perfect, not too thick and not too watery. A very good follow on dish from the starters.
The third course was a lemon mint sorbet and this showed to me the quality of Legendz. The sorbet was very good, light and refreshing and provided a wonderful contrast to the earlier courses and a good preparation for the main course. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the set menu to ensure that each course complements the next one with the overall effect of creating a truly wonderful dinging experience.
For the main course there are two choices. The first choice is filet of US Angus beef tenderloin accompanied with Gulf Prawn Tempura served with forest mushroom soya sauce, steamed bouquet of fresh seasonal vegetables and wasabi mashed winter potatoes – this is an excellent dish – superb beef tenderloin, well seasoned and wonderful accompanying vegetables each cooked to perfection. The second choice is New Zealand rack of lamb with rosemary gravy, a bouquet of seasonal fresh vegetables and baked potato. Superb ingredients and cooked and seasoned to perfection. There is no doubting the quality of the chefs.
For dessert there is black forest mousse cake with vanilla anglaise and seasonal fresh fruit. A very good end to a very well thought out set menu.
Value:
‘Exceptional value for fine dining’
At just over BD20 per person the Legendz five course set menu offers exceptionally good value for high caliber fine dining. There are not many other places in Bahrain that offer this quality of food at such value.
Lasting impressions
I would describe Legendz as a fine dining steakhouse and a place where you can enjoy very good food in a relaxed and easygoing environment. It would be suitable for special occasions with friends and/or family, a meal with business acquaintances and definitely a must go to place for those who love fine dining. I was most impressed with the thought given to the set menu and how each course flowed into the next one. I definitely recommend Legendz and will be visiting it again soon.
