Badawi Lebanese Restaurant, nr Exhibition Road, Al Hoora, Bahrain
I first came to know of Badawi Lebanese restaurant through Twitter @Badawi_— and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BadawiLebanese and was immediately intrigued by the social media savvy restaurant. I sensed an air of confidence in the tweets and had high hopes that the food would be special.
Yesterday (Saturday 4th February) I finally managed to pay Badawi a visit. Located in Al Hoora, behind Exhibition Avenue, the restaurant is cozy and gives a homely feel. The waiting staff are friendly, helpful and responsive. As my wife and I entered the restaurant we were warmly greeted and promptly ushered to a table. Within moments we were presented with a menu and the waitress explained the three special dishes of the day. Each day Badawi serve three special dishes for the day – the special dishes are decided on the day depending on the availability of local produce that morning. When we visited the specials were fasooliya (white beans) with meat and rice, freekeh (green wheat) chicken and mudardura (lentils and rice). Each special dish comes with soup and a salad and for BD3 all in this represents exceptional value.
We ordered the fasooliya and mudardura. Each dish was fabulous. My favourite was fasooliya. Fresh succulent pieces of meat that melted in your mouth with a rich and flavoursome sauce. Just the dish for a winter day in Bahrain. The mudaradura was also a hit. We also tried the restaurant’s signature dish, chicken liver with fresh bread and houmous – wonderful – washed down with fresh lemon juice with mint.
Our experience at Badawi was first class and I would strongly recommend anyone who likes Lebanese cuisine to try this wonderful little restaurant. Great food, great service and great value.
